Here we are rapidly approaching the end of another year, and boy-oh-boy, what a wild and wacky ride this has been. One thing this year has taught me is to TRY and slow-down… TRY to take a deep breath… and at least TRY to appreciate the little things in life. Forced uncertainty; feeling as if the rug was pulled out from underfoot, this year seemed as though it would be a very scary one. Long hours grow longer. Expectations continue to rise. The responsibility of being responsible is ever-growing and the drama from others never ceases to amaze.

The quest for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness has been an exhausting yet rewarding adventure lately. Remaining enthusiastically optimistic is the daily goal, chin held high complete with a smile. “Kill ‘Em With Kindness” is what my Momma always said, and so far she’s been right about everything. My only regret is that I didn’t start listening to her sooner! Love you Mom.

Live for today, there may not be a tomorrow.

Live for the moment, there will never be another one like it.

All this introspective talk made me think of that 80’s movie “Crossroads” with Ralph Macchio. In the movie Macchio’s character makes a deal with “Scratch” (aka: The Devil) to save his friend’s soul. Although I haven’t accepted any guitar shredding challenges or made any deals with an old Blues man in the middle of Mississippi… Somehow… I can relate. Steve Vai played the Devil’s “ringer” guitar player in the final guitar battle. Inexplicably the Karate Kid defeats the mighty Steve Vai? I remember being so disappointed…

For you movie lovers out there… maybe “Crossroads” isn’t the best movie in the world. To all you musicians out there, hit up BlockBuster.com and rent that movie. You won’t believe it either. Steve Vai loses to the Karate Kid! I know… I know… I still can’t believe it…

I guess I need to practice my guitar a bit more… JUST IN CASE !!!
